Water polo history of Chelyabinsk is intimately associated with world famous Uralochka. Women’s water polo team was formed in Zlatoust in December 1985; its first members were the swimmers from Taganai sports club
Under guidance of the coach Mikhail Nakoryakov the team first participated in the All-Union Society of Sports and Physical Training for Children first trade union competition in March 1986. Uralochka got its present name in September 1986.

Since 2000 our athletes took part in the 200, 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games. Two of Uralochka team members are bronze medal winners of 2009 World Student Games, three girls are 2009 U20 European Junior Championships winners and five other team members are 2010 U18 European Junior Championships winners.
