Summer Olympics Successful Start of the Russian Women’s Water Polo Team

Women’s Water Polo Team of Russia, including three athletes from South Urals, has won a tricky victory over Great Britain resulting 7:6 in the first match of the water polo preliminary round at 2012 London Olympics.

Both teams were equally strong and geared up for winning. In the third quarter Russian water polo players have shot ahead and managed to keep the winning score up till the end of match. 

Chelyabinsk region is represented by Sofia Konukh and Olga Belova – two players from Zlatoust Uralochka. Ekaterina Lisunova has joined the National team too. Having performed as a member of South Urals team before, she is now also trained by Russian Federation honoured coach Mikhail Nakoryakov.

Russia will play its next match of the preliminaries with Italy on Wednesday, August 1.
