Special fan zone will be created in Chelyabinsk for the U19 European Women’s Water Polo Championships that are taking place on September 9-16, 2012.
“Fan zone will be situated on Kirovka Street – the liveliest place of the city that is already equipped with a large widescreen display. We are planning to make a special place with a comfortable benches from which fans will be able to watch online broadcasting from the Stroitel Swimming Pool where the event will be held,” Valery Galeev, the main organizer of Euro-2012 says.
He adds that if necessary the same widescreen display will be installed in front of the swimming pool in the Metallurgical District. “Everything depends of the audience interest in Championships,” Galeev adds.
Tickets for the European Women’s Water Polo Championships have gone on sale in Chelyabinsk since August 9. It can be purchased from the city box office and at the official website of the Euro-2012. The price is reasonable – from 100 to 400 rubles. Free passes will be available for young athletes and school kids.
Residents of the Chelyabinsk region have already chosen the name for the Championships mascot. The sunny girl-ball will be called Uralochka. This name got the highest number of points (43%).
“We are ready to host a lot of guests. Many applications have come from Zlatoust where Water Polo is very popular. The South Urals citizens have a worthy team to support,” Valery Galeev says. He adds that the member of the Olympic team – Olga Belova is going to take part in competition.
More than 300 participants from European countries are expected to come for the event.
